64 bit Opera + Gnash *SOLVED*

So I heard Adobe wants to ditch Flash on Linux with Chrome being the only browser with official support from Adobe. I use Chrome on my netbook but I prefer Opera on my desktop. I want to try gnash but I can't seem to get it to work. I told opera to search in /usr/lib/gnash but it won't find the plugins. Lightspark gets detected, but lightspark also fails at almost everything flash related so I'd rather not use it.

I tried installing gnash-git and gnash-trunk-git but they fail during the install, so I currently only have gnash-common installed.

how about trying the stock gnash packages from the arch community repos?

Adobe is still giving security support for 5 more years, so its not all over on flash.By that time flash might be obsolete and taken over by html5 probably!

yeah, i thought the same thing but i'd rather try something open source anyway. I currently am using the stock gnash packages from the AUR. gnash in the default repos won't install either.

gnash works for me 10.1.r999 version from the stock arch community repos.It isnt as good as adobe, but still it works.No issues.

I use 64 bit with firefox.I just installed gnash and it worked.I think its not browser related.what does pacman say when you try to install the stock package?

I think you didn't enter the package name correctly.

there is no gnash-kde4 in stock packages.see my previous post.

there is a gnash-kde4 in the AUR (I am a KDE4 user). but interestingly, gtk made opera detect it and now it works. thanks for the help!

interestingly, theres things that gnash works with that lightspark doesn't, but lightspark works with things that gnash won't.
