Hi, I am looking at purchasing a new laptop in the next few days.
Just wondering what people recommend for Arch to run on? My budget is fairly small, so looking at the bottom end of the market, no more than £350. I dont have any specific requirements, its just for playing the odd game, such as minecraft, internet, emails, documents, videos and music etc. I tend to go with intel/nvidia machines, but quite happy to try something different.
If you have a newish laptop, that works well with arch, then let me know the name and price....

What do you think about this notebook?
Although it has only 3GB RAM (and not 8GB), it should be a good option.

I've had an Acer 5742Z (2Ghz P6100, intel graphics) for almost a year and been very pleased, got it from Ebuyer for £250. They're currently doing a slightly faster Fujitsu for £280 (P6200) .

I haven't bought a laptop from these people, but I have bought a desktop and was very happy with them.
They will sell OS-free which is always a bonus: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

hmmm like i said, amd?? i have no experience with them.... and that processor looks a bit weedy to me.... have an asus r101 netbook with a 1.66 atom... fancy something over 2ghz really... but other than that, nice enough.

I've been using an acer aspire 5742 for a year now and everything works as expected. Plenty of space, memory, speed and with some tweaking around 3+ hrs on the battery.
You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.
