[SOLVED] Deinstall HAL

Hi all

Is there anz Archlinux based guideline on how to deinstall HAL and replace it? I only found fragments but no complete guideline.

Background: I have a working Archlinux installation. But since 1 month the HAL daemon takes ages (5 minutes) to start. So it is obvious that I have to replace HAL.

Any help?

Best regards
Martin

Re: [SOLVED] Deinstall HAL

HAL has long been depreciated, you should be able to remove it using pacman

pacman -R hal

Rauchen verboten

Re: [SOLVED] Deinstall HAL

GNOME 3

I just deinstalled HAL and now the console comes up and there is an error message:

Couldn't connect to system bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: file not found

Any tips?

You were relying on HAL to start dbus for you (something you shouldn't have done in the first place). Add 'dbus' to your daemons array in /etc/rc.conf.

Re: [SOLVED] Deinstall HAL

Thanks. And how can I get rid of it or is it standard to put dbus in the daemon list?

Re: [SOLVED] Deinstall HAL

Why do you want to get rid of dbus?

Re: [SOLVED] Deinstall HAL

Sorry, I was not precise in my last post. I thought that dbus gets started by GNOME. But maybe I am wrong.
