I would like know about what new features is coming with the new release of xorg. Somebody know something about it?
I have installed the RC0 of Xorg, but i didn't find anything new, though it feels faster and lighter than the current version

irc.freenode.org #archlinux-es

AFAIK, they are working on improving Composite, mostly. The lightness is probably due to more cleaning up of deprecated Xfree86 code, since Xorg is a fork.

7.0 will be the autotooled version of 6.9, so don't expect much difference to the end user for that (for us, we can build separate libraries to get rid of a huge Xorg package)
6.9 will have improved hardware support, some bugfixed extensions, but don't expect huge changes in new extensions. I think existing ones are more advanced and better bugfixed.
I will backport some things from the 6.9 branch to 6.8 to fix quite some bugs (xlib, xrender, i8xx drivers...)

6.9 comes with improved radeon drivers. as far as i can see a difference on my ATI 9200 (running in a mac) glxgears runs the same as before but at higher resolutions the driver doesn't slow down as much as before.
also it seems as if the whole thing runs way better with composite enabled on slower machines that do have DRI enabled.
anyway, you should see their Changelog for a precise list of new features and fixes.
I recognize that while theory and practice are, in theory, the same, they are, in practice, different. -Mark Mitchell

Hola celeron, you should take a look at this
Arch GNU/Linux 0.7.1 (Noodle)
Linux 2.6.14-archck1

Question: in version 7, is XOrg's directory going to be /usr/X11R7, as opposed to the current /usr/X11R6? If so, wouldn't that cause worlds of problems with all sorts of things?
Offline
I think it will stay X11R6 because of compatibility reasons. XFree86 3.3 has been using X11R6 for ages also.

Eh? I thought that XF86 used /root/xc.... or is that only in Red Hat?
(Shame on VIA, if that's the case... That would mean that the source package for their ProsavageDDR drivers can only be used on a single set of distros!)

If you want to help, install xorg7 from [testing] and report any bugs.
