Laptop connected to projector screen state

Hi

I have a laptop connected to a projector.
I can close the lid and the projector still works - great, but how do I turn off the laptop's display, while keeping the projector's running.

It's an odd question, but quite practical reasoning. I actually need it for an art exhibition that runs video work (for long hours at a stretch) -
and I would like the laptop lid to be closed as it's unsightly, but I don't want any overheating issues and would therefore like to turn the LCD off.

I normally use

xset dpms -force off

to turn off my laptop screen, but this switches off the projector as well. Any way to target the laptop screen?

I should mention that although I am an Arch user (on my main machine) - these machines are booting off USB's with Puppy,
but I thought I could ask it here as it IS surely a generic linux question.

Ah, I think I might have found the solution:

xrandr --output LVDS --off

Haven't tried yet, but in theory it seems the correct way.

I've used this method before with external displays connected to a laptop.
