Hello everyone,
GDM is acting weird lately (i don't remember since when this is happening)...
When I turn my computer on, after boot, gdm starts with a black screen, where I can see only the mouse pointer with the clock icon. The regular behaviour after that is to show me the users list, so i can login, but instead, it does nothing.
To fix it, I change to a terminal (ctrl+alt+F1), stop gdm (rc.d stop gdm) and start it again... after thar, it works as it should, and I can login and use gnome normally.
Has anyone had that problem too? How can I fix it?
My system is up-to-date (gdm 3.2.2.1, but it also happened in previous versions), I have a Dell Inspiron 15r (n5110), with Intel graphic card... If I missed to give any other relevant information, please let me know

Seems like this person is having a similar issue to you where he has the same workaround that you use.
How long exactly has this been occurring for you?

I can't say for sure, but I guess one month, maybe 40 days. I had a desktop before, where it didn't occurred, but i don't know if it's a hardware related issue, i'm guessing not

Sounds like a Xorg or Intel Driver issue. Have you updated the graphics drivers at all recently or installed a new version of Xorg?

I first installed intel drivers on 11/03, and there was an update on 11/23, but I think the problem was happening before this update. Xorg was installed on the same date, and the update on 11/07 and 11/18. But i can't tell, for sure, when the problem started so I don't know if there's something to do with these updates

Are you by any chance using auto login? There is a known issue https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=127845 The fix given didn't work for me and I switched off auto login.
