Try to rebuild the package completely (makepkg -f) and then reinstall it.
as i was expecting nothing happened.. keeps to load the old driver!!
im becoming mad.. i really have just to remove this old driver but i cant understand how..
i think the problem is that i've updated catalyst without remove the old ones..
Edit: now it works.. i've upgraded to the new kernel in the repos and now it works again.. im sure it was a problem
of the old modules for the old kernel, too bad i couldnt fix it in a proper way!

Hey all, I'm having issues with Skype video calling, I have a thread about it but the responses I've had so far have been...unhelpful. Basically when my contact turns their video on, x crashes out. I've tried using the other xorg repository and that didn't seem to help. Open source drivers aren't an option as I'm a light gamer as well as frequent user of 3d software like blender, which I have tried the open driver for and didn't get good results. Is there anything I can do at all to fix this? I also get the crash when I watch videos with vlc although I can fix that bychanging the video off of xv output. I don't know how to do that with Skype...

It looks a lot like the X server 1.11 issue... which "other xorg repository" did you use?

I tried 1.10 Repositories - someone on my thread told me to try it, and said I'd have to downgrade the packages that show to be newer, although nothing actually did 'show to be newer'. So maybe I did it wrong, I'm not sure!
EDIT:
I added this to pacman.conf -
[xorg110]
Server = http://catalyst.apocalypsus.net/repo/xorg110/$arch
And then ran pacman -Syu. Are there any additional steps after this, besides a reboot?

Just to be sure, I would try again to add [xorg110] repo to your pacman.conf as described in the wiki, update with "pacman -Syy" followed by "pacman -Suu", check the xorg-server version with "pacman -Qi xorg-server" and then restart the server (or reboot) and try with skype or vlc. Just t obe sure...
Edit: remember to add [xorg110] before [extra] repo in pacman.conf

Added xorg110 before the rest as instructed, and -Suu was something I missed out - All fixed! Thanks a lot, and I hope 1.11 gets fixed at some point...

Welcome
BTW, -Suu enables package downgrade.

Am I the only person having problems with Catalyst and the 3.2.8 kernel? fglrx kept seg faulting, so I downgraded kernel to 3.2.6-2 and everything went back to normal.

Catalyst doesn't work with 3.2.8, not only with Arch one, with custom ones too. I am using linux-lts right now. Everytime I install a new kernel, catalyst-hook rebuilds the module, I will return to linux-ck when it works.

It works beautifully on my system:

╔═ comhack@Cerberus 03:20 PM

Of course, I use an earlier version of Xorg-server per the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AT … positories

Look at fglrxinfo and glxinfo | grep direct
It gets installed, but does not load. X version doesn't really matter, this problem is hours old.

I also had the problem with fglrx not loading after I upgraded to 3.2.8. I'm using xorg-server 1.10.4-1 from the xorg110 repo. I installed catalyst-generator instead of catalyst from the catalyst repo and that works.
Offline
Did you reboot after the 3.2.8?
If you did, our problem should be with some other update. The problem is with the catalyst-hook and official module then.

How can I make it work?
edit: OK, I've just removed catalyst-generator and downgraded the kernel. Catalyst works now.

aaah yes... there's problem with 3.2.8 kernel, aspecially with it's 32-bit version.
I've updated catalyst x86_64 package in [catalyst] repo and it seems to work fine - feel free to update,
though there's problem with it's i686 version, with which i'm getting error same as this mentioned by GERGE. I don't have time to work on it at all and hope that some patch will arrive soon.
Tomorrow i will probably have only one hour (about ~6 pm GMT) to update i686 packages if only there will be some patch.
I'm also dissapointed because of no 12.2 release. LOL i don't remember a month without release, but hell, hope it will fix at least xv bug ;P. I've heard that 12.2 will arrive in next week.

If you are using catalyst, kernel-lts is a better option.
Excuse my poor English.

In my x86_64 system with xorg-server 1.11.4-1 and kernel 3.2.8-1, catalyst-total 12.1-1 from AUR works fine.

ok, i've prepared a simple patch for i686 3.2.8 kernel:

}
Please remember that i'm not a developer and this could work not...
There's also one big disadvantage: i'm absoultelly unable to test it, to even compile it atm cuz of being at work.
So i've got a request: can some i686 user test it for me?
Here's some quickly prepared PKGBUILD (+ other files) of catalyst package: http://www.mediafire.com/?6p9g8436k9leg8t
I put it on mediafire because i don't want to access apocalyptus from work ;P
It would be nice if someone could test it within 5 hours, because i would like to update aur and repo if this will work :-)

Have you used patch from #5 post?

I have re-upgraded to the 3.2.8-1 kernel and upgraded to the latest Catalyst 64-bit package from Vi0L0 and everything is working, now. This is with the current Xorg 1.11.4-1
Thanks very much, @Vi0L0
