[SOLVED] shotwell coredumps on startup

Shotwell coredumps on startup with the following diagnostics:

Can you please check the file '/usr/share/shotwell/icons/crop.svg'?

% file /usr/share/shotwell/icons/crop.svg
/usr/share/shotwell/icons/crop.svg: SVG Scalable Vector Graphics image

Did you try to reinstall shotwell?

Can you provide any debug information?

The file crop.svg exists.  I did reinstall shotwell, it didn't help.

I am not sure what additional debug information to show.  From the error message,
it appears that vala, which shotwell uses, doesn't recognize svg format files.
