Root filesystem not found on boot after RAID/crypto install

I've installed 64-bit arch on my desktop computer, but I cannot get the kernel to find the raid device to boot from. When I boot a LiveCD, the raid device is at /dev/md127, but when I'm dropped into a ramfs shell, there's no such device. For whatever reason I couldn't get grub-legacy this far, so I am using Grub2. What is the proper way to configure grub/the kernel so that I can boot? My boot partition is on a USB drive, without RAID and unencrypted.

Now I get this cryptic message on boot:

/sbin/fsck.xfs: XFS file system.                       [busy]
dosfsck 3.9.12, 29 Oct 2011, FAT32, LFN
open: No such file or directory                        [FAIL]

REBOOT REQUIRED
The system will be rebooted automatically in 15 seconds.
