Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

great. that was it.

why don't you put a default icon set? In my case, for example, i did not even have a .gtk-rc file, i had to switch gtk theme for it to be created.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Hmm, right. missed that. But, I was indeed trying to get it to work with the oxygen icons (which i have installed). It never used any icons until i set it on gtk2-rc ( or something like that ).

According to your readme, shouldn't it be used if all else fails? It seemed to miss mine. How can i check that?

Hey, that is weird, it should of found oxygen if nothing else.  What DE are you using?  Maybe it was picking up gnome (like xfce always seems to do).

Maybe it was picking up gnome, I think the Qt functions will try to use gconf if it detects it.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

1. is it possible to enable the back/forward mouse-buttons? (asked before, but not answered https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p796740)
2. in "icon view" is it possible to cycle throught the icons in line 1(with the right arrow), and let it continue to line 2? (this might be a problem for only me)

Yup this works, but would be nice to have it built in, or as part of the "shortcuts".

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Hey, I remember looking at this awhile back, but from what I recall I couldn't see anything in the Qt docs regarding those extra buttons.  I guessing from that other thread that dolphin doesn't do it natively either, so it probably doesn't exist.  I haven't looked lately, so maybe some new functionality might of come in 4.8, I'll have another look around.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

I made a very simple script to extract files from qtfm (and other fm's) Unpack.

Since qtfm can't set file associations, i also made a simple replacement for xdg-open, very simple. You can set file associations from within the script, check it out: bash-open

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Hey, I've been mucking around and I think I solved the mtab problem for detecting when things are mounted.  It is now back to how it was, in that it should detect and automatically create a bookmark whenever a drive is mounted, whether it be automatic via udev etc., or manually by the user at any time.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Hey Wittfella! New beta 5.4 seems to be working OK with showing mounted stuff. AND my special weird sorting patch you supplied a while back works too. AND somewhere along the line the colours have become much nicer! Really Great! Thanks!

PS On your site there seems to be a problem with the link to the beta download. It points to some google/https address, while the beta is on a straight http  address. So the PKGBUILD you submitted here works, but not fetching it from your site directly.

Looks like the custom actions are sorted properly now, thanks. BTW in details view would it be possible to change the type column to show the mimetype (like image/png) instead of just the extension?

@Wittfella: maybe you could consider creating qtfm-beta package in AUR for those beta packages?

BTW, I think this caused details view browsing to be much slower than it was. It takes like half a second to load any kind of dir with more than 20 of files (most noticable when clicking folders in the tree).

Can you please switch it back or make the mimetype optional?

.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

I suspected that would be the case, which is why I didn't do it previously when asked, it's fairly resource intensive.  But I thought I would try it out and was surprised really.  On my crappy eeepc I see that slight pause on a large folder, but on my good computer I don't notice anything.

But I don't use detail view, so it doesn't bother me either way.  TBH I am not sure what benefit you get seeing the mimetype over the extension.

In most cases I find it makes it so similar files are closer together (image/jpg and then image/png for example). Also using the extension is not reliable when the filename includes a dot.

Re: qtFM - Small, fast, light Qt filemanager

Here's an idea on how to use dropbox with qtfm. Moves a file to the public folder, and copies the public url to the clipboard. Drop-it. It can be used as custom action.

Made it optional.  Add the following key to the conf file if you want the mimetype info.

realMimeTypes=1

PKGBUILD
