Installation eror: $5 is set to PROCEDURE

Hi

I am new to Arch, although I have been using Linux on my PC at home for about 18 months (Mainly Debian and Mint).

On the recommendation of a friend, I have been trying to install Arch on my netbook but I keep getting the following error:

Error: $5 is set to PROCEDURE? We don't use $5, maybe you still need to update your code to the new ap (all debug categories in $4)

At this stage I have tried to install ARCH into my netbook (Toshiba NB550D) and my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A210) and received the same error message on both machines.

I obtained the ARCH iso from the overnight snapshots on the Arch website (http://releng.archlinux.org/isos/2012.02.29_04-00-01/archlinux-2012.02.29_04-00-01-core-i686.iso ) using the latest snapshot available at that time.  As my netbook does not have a disk drive (an external disk drive will be my next priority), I could not burn the iso to a CD and install Arch from that CD.  However, as the netbook came with Windows 7 Starter pre-loaded, I have been trying to install Arch using the Microsoft Windows method outlined in section 2.1.3.2 of the Beginners' Guide (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners%27_Guide), including downloading and using the Disk Imager recommended in that guide (https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/+download).

In both computers the USB created using the Microsoft method boots the computer, shows the Arch Linux menu, allows me to select "Boot Arch Linux", and then proceeds with the installation process for several seconds.  Eventually a message appears on the screen saying:

Welcome to Arch Linux Installation Framework, run /arch/setup

There is a few extra lines of text at this point, but nothing that is relevant to the installation process.  I entered the following command:

 /arch/setup

and at that stage I was presented with the error message shown above.  I have searched for this message on Google, but did not get any relevant hits.  I have also searched for this error message on this forum, where I got lots of hits, but none of the ones I read through appear to discuss this particular problem. I have also spoken to some people I know who use Arch, but they were not able to assist.

I have checked the md5sum of the download and it matches that provided on the Arch website, so I have no reason to believe that there is a problem with the download.  I am aware that snapshots are untested, and therefore not 100% reliable, but,  if there was something wrong with the snapshot, I would have expected to see other users mentioning that they also had a problem. I am therefore compelled to accept the most likely solution - I am doing something wrong - but I don't know what.  Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong, or what I should try next, would be appreciated.

Re: Installation eror: $5 is set to PROCEDURE

My apologies for raising a matter that is already included in this forum.  I have had this problem for a couple oh nights and tried to report it on the forum last night, however, due to internet connectivity problems I was not able to do so.  When I reported the problem tonight I forgot to recheck the forums to see if anyone had reported the same problem in the interim, which Ikraemer did (see post "ERROR in archlinux-2012.03.02_04-00-01-core-i686.iso" )  The other post provides possible solutions to this problem.
