weird acpid & crond problem

Hi,

I am running arch + xmonad + xmobar on a lenovo x220. Yesterday I started experiencing these errors:

(a) on shutdown acpid & crond daemon fail to stop and system usually reboots straight away (i can't stop crond or acpid manually either).

(b) powertop 2 reports 'pread 0xe8 : Bad file descriptor' when i try to run it as root.

(c) wireless does not work at all, netcfg fails authentication and cannot obtain IP when I attempt to connect manually

(d) when i try to mount my fat32 usb key or ntfs external hdd i get 'unknown filesystem type 'vfat/ntfs''

(e) sigterm fails on shutdown

I know these issues seem unrelated but they all started happening at the same time and things were running smoothly until then. I have no idea what caused this nor what to do apart from wipe my laptop sad. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
