[SOLVED]usermod: PAM: Authentication failure

I just installed bumblebee but when I tried to give permission to the user to use bumblebee daemon, it shows

$ usermod -a -G bumblebee ebs
usermod: PAM: Authentication failure

How can I fix this?
(The method given here:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=675

didn't work)

do it as root not as regular user.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

ok that worked!
tongue When I used the command it asked me for password so I assumed it is asking for root access automatically.
