i have a box with a radeon 6310 connected via hdmi to a TV-Screen (size 1920x1080, no other screens connected) which i use a a HTPC. i use the xf86-video-ati-driver and KMS is ON. there are no individualized settings for screen-resolution in xorg just some settings for the radeon-driver that are recommended in the wiki.
everything is fine but the screen (as delivered by X) exceeds the borders of the TV-panel a little bit (~3-5cm) on each side - just enough so i cannot see the slit in fluxbox and maximized windows have no borders at all. the resolution shown by xrandr and in all the logs is 1920x1080. edid and monitor-model seem to be recognized correctly by X.
i tried re-adjusting the screen with xrandr and switching it on&off, but it changed nothing. the Xorg.0.log reports about 50 valid modelines with 1920x1080 so i would not know which one to choose for a fixed config.
I am clueless - any ideas on how to fix this?

I have almost the same graphics card (radeon 6320) and I saw this problem when I connected to a flatscreen tv via hdmi. It's possible that this is a bug in the free radeon driver. Did you test it with the official catalyst driver? I'll probably buy an external monitor with a 1920x1080 resolution today, so I might run into this problem as well. I hope there will be a quick solution, which then of course I'll post here!
