trouble with intel video

hi,

im trying to install Arch on my laptop (vaio vgn nr 150fe) and im having issues with the intel video driver:
after installing X, switching to console gives me a black, frozen screen with distorted white lines along the top, also there seems to be no acceleration (but i didnt test it)

lspci gives me:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 0c)

afterwards i installed debian, but id prefer to get arch running.

right now, im trying the ArchBang live from  usb, video works much better (the frozen screen is still there, but lasts only a fraction of a second)

any ideas?
