RAM not recognized after upgrade to 4gb

Hi

I don't now if this is the right place to post but i am really gonna get mad. I have ASUS k50ij-sx176l, 320 gb HDD and 2 GB of RAM. http://usa.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile … ifications

I have bought additional  2gb of ram http://www.integralmemory.com/product/d … ry-modules but there is no way the BIOS or Arch would recognize it. I have tried million times to put ram in and out so this is not the problem. Do i have to upgrade BIOS? If the RAM doesn't get detected in your BIOS; then Arch (or any other OS for that matter) will not see it either obviously. If I understand correctly (from quickly checking the links you provided); your laptop currently has 1x 2Gb RAM module in it and you're trying to add a second similar one which is not detected?

Couple of things I would try:

* Take out your current RAM module and switch it with the new one. If it's still not detected; I would be inclined to think that there's something wrong with the ram itself.
* Switch your original RAM module to the second slot and see if it's still detected.
* Flashing the BIOS to the latest available version also never hurts.

Thank for response.

Yes, my i have 2gb of ram and additional ram module (2gb also) is not detected.

I can't switch original RAM because it is integrated into the motherboard. I have only one empty slot so i can't experiment. I  wan't to upgrade BIOS but i have some difficulty to do it because "easyflash bios application" doesn't recognize file (it doesn't have .ROM extension).
