Has anyone else ever come across this problem using larch to create bootable media? After the error I looked in /root/larch_build/ and there is no ../lib/.. directory for there for any files to be in anyhow.
I am using the latest Arch (fully updated/upgraded) and larch 8.2

udev hooks have been recently removed from the mkinitcpio package and are now included in udev package

Are you sure all the packages are up to date? Maybe you should pick a fresh mirrorlist (out of date mirrors can trick you into thinking you're up to date).

oh sweet jesus, larch??
larch is one foot in the grave, it relies on old versions of mkinitcpio initscripts and now udev to work properly. both are in the [larch] repo along with compiles of AUFS form AUR.
downgrade to udev 180-1, and it will work. I should get that uploaded sooner or later.
larch needs a massive re-write if not a whole new for.

re-write of locale handling "new" versions of glibc
re-write to take advantage of gpg signing of pacman packages
edit: founder and owner of larch "gradgrind" has repeatedly state his will to maintain larch is gone....
edit: make sure your kernel files reflect linux-kernel-aufs_friendly.

Thanks. Sorry I have been away for a bit. Is larch in the process of being updated? Or will it be left in the dust soon? I will try it on an older version of Arch and see what's what. We've tried using Archiso but we cannot get it to install a customized Arch system - the live CD/DVD is customized, but after installation it's just a normal base Arch system. So I was going around and trying different tools to see what we'll use.

I am going to try and fix larch, or at least stir up intrest and find someone else who will do it.
the "larch" hook in live-larch package is the probably the only real show stopper which is holding up mkinitpcio and with it initscripts and udev.
it SHOULD work, but its starting to require more and more old packages that don't get updates. This could be a security problem, as it breaks the rolling release security model.
