Firefox 11.0-2 scrolls slow & uses 100% CPU on pages with images. Example page is kde.org.
I found lots of posts from people with this slow scroll problem with Nvidia who say all is well with Nouveau. In my case the problem is opposite. I have Ubuntu 11.10 using Nvidia 173 drivers in another partition and can run firefox 10 or firefox 11 with no problem. When I run either version of firefox under Arch using Nouveau 0.0.16_git20120210-1 I see the slow scroll problem. I have GeForce FX5200 graphics.
I know I can fix the problem by using Arch rollback to 1.10 xorg-server and then installing Nvidia, but I suspect there may be an easier fix by tweaking something in xorg.d that would let me keep the Nouveau driver which otherwise works fine.
Any ideas?

I saw this post before, but had intially misread it as an Nvidia driver when it was Nouveau. It indicates the problem went away between some earlier version of Firefox and version 3.6.13. Maybe it's a Firefox problem that has been re-introduced.

What other sites apart from kde.org have you problems with?
Is http://chakra-linux.org/ maxing out your cpu too?

http://chakra-linux.org/ loads and scrolls with no problem. CPU usage around 35%. Any site with a lot of pictures such as a news site with ads on the right will slow it down. http://images.google.com search on strawberry and the page is unscrollable. If I don't try to scroll for 20 seconds the CPU usage settles down.

I have also discovered that the following message pops into the end of the Xorg.0.log after all of the normal messages usually around the time the CPU is heavily loaded:
