no sound in SOME players [SOLVED]

Hi,

I can hear sound with audacious & mplayer and in all browsers/flash.

I hear NOTHING with vlc and kaffeine though.

What would be the best way to find out why?

Are you running a sound server? There could be one method of audio output that isn't working. Try the various "-ao" options for mplayer since the one that it uses by default works.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

Nope, no sound server installed, also as I wrote above mplayer DOES work fine, kaffeine and vlc are NOT working.

Re: no sound in SOME players [SOLVED]

For the record:

I had to uncomment the following section:

#audio.driver:auto

and use:

audio.driver:alsa

instead in:

~/.kde4/share/apps/kaffeine/xine-config
