Custom Pulseaudio Setup

So I have pulseaudio set up with alsa and it works great. What I want to do is have a place to mix multiple outputs and input and use that as an input (e.g. route both my mic and youtube's audio to an input and use that for skype, but NOT have skypes output routed to it). How would I go about setting this up?

Re: Custom Pulseaudio Setup

That's not 'custom' at all, you should be able to do that in pavucontrol (you MAY need to load module-combine depending what exactly you want to do.

Or just run JACK....

Re: Custom Pulseaudio Setup

Oh, thanks! That appears to work!

[Edit] Nope, still not getting what I need. I figured out how to do most of it, all i need to know now is how to get something to playback to multiple outputs.

Re: Custom Pulseaudio Setup

That can be done, but not with pavucontrol. You need to add something to your pulse configuration file to create such a combined sink.  You can do fancier stuff like connect input sources directly to output sinks, or even loop output sink into other output sinks by using sink 'monitors'.

The first thing you can try is download paprefs (from aur?) which has a check box to create a combined sink that outputs to all devices. If you want more fine-tuned control, I think the only solution is manual configuration as I described above.

paprefs is in [extra], but I recommend using manual configuration of module-combine (as I already mentioned earlier).

Re: Custom Pulseaudio Setup

I think your setup is far more suitable for jack than it is for pulse.

I recommend you to install jack2 and patchage (or qjackctrl) and give it a try. It is just natural to do this in jack.
