Re: AL screenshots (Archival, see other screenshots thread)

After installing gDesklets from Pacman, you basically can add the weather thing by doing this when you have it extracted to some directory:

gdesklets /path/to/weather.display

Re: AL screenshots (Archival, see other screenshots thread)

Actually, first you need to "install" the sensor, and then execute the display like  above.

Im having the same "error reports" when installing the sensors... dont know why.
Before i had them but then the dispplays worked anyway, now they dont (i was updating some)

damn.
if i get to fix this i will post something.

edit: replaced a wrong below for an above

Re: AL screenshots (Archival, see other screenshots thread)

Im getting this when i want to run a display:

Could not add display

The display could not be added because the file does not exist.

even with borders that dont need any sensors... this is weird!

Re: AL screenshots (Archival, see other screenshots thread)

SOLVED!

There is a issue with gDesklets 0.22, the error report on sensors install is no problem, is just a message (this is my opinion) as some say everything is ok (RSS display for ex).

The problem is when running the gdesklets, you must run them with FULL PATH, as noted above, but it doesnt say is a MUST, even if you are in the file directory!!

for install run normal:
./Install-xyz-sensor.bin

then run:
gdesklets /full/path/to/file.display

for a "full path" shortcut you can use $PWD it will autocomplete the path:
gdesklets $PWD/file.display

good luck!

should i post this as a new thread as an advice in General?

Re: AL screenshots (Archival, see other screenshots thread)

Any way, the error on install time doesnt matter, run gdesklets /full/path/to/displayfile and thats it. (the display file is where you extracted the archive, the install, only gives a py file with some python code for the sensor.

The theme? I got everything when I installed XFCE. I haven't installed any new themes. I installed the xfwm4-themes package, and I'm assuming that's where it came from  big_smile .
