Re: initng

I think it's safe to assume that initng won't be getting used for a while - the devs seem to have a lot of other stuff to do right now, for example all sorts of updates.

Re: initng

anyway, im trying out ubuntu and couple of users have submitted a working HOWTO to get ubuntu running..lets hope arch gets it soon...i live in a *really* hot place and i fear leaving my computer on the whole day could cause it to heat up too much..so lots of restarts, unlike most archers..

Is it just me, or does Arch already boot up fast enough, especially considering that most users probably reboot once a week or less?

Re: initng

I tried initng out in Gentoo and it was really fast. I shall give it a go tomorrow in Arch. The stopping at 80% or so is normal though, oddly enough. Cheers.

Re: initng

Well, I tried it and the errors with tty keep it from making the system become useful. So I will look into the scripts and see if I can fix that.

Re: initng

@iphitus you can increase the security of your splitscreen login-setup. if you add these lines to your rc.screen:
deflogin on
shell /bin/login

Re: initng

Just put in GDM as first deamon to start?

Why is everybody complaining about a slow bootup?

Don't see the point...

BTW, I _really_ love the command line... but it sucks without framebuffer support...

Geert.
