Console Blanking

I'm a bit puzzled by the console blanking that's baked into the kernel. I currently have an arch htpc, which runs with xbmc only, i.e. no gnome/xfce/etc. While inside xbmc, console blanking seems to be inhibited. However, if I launch mednafen, then after 10 minutes of playing the screen goes black. I've tried adding

setterm -blank 0

to rc.local, but this did not appear to help. I also tried adding

consoleblank=0

to my kernel parameters in the grub/menu.lst, however that also did not help.

What am I doing wrong to disable this "feature"?

Re: Console Blanking

I think setterm deals with the console, not with X.
