After working as intended for a while, my thinkpad x220 now reboots when asked to shut down.
I'm running an up to date arch 64, KDE on a thinkpad x220. Recent changes includes a kernel upgrade, a grub2 upgrade and the addition of multilib and installation of a many libs from multilib (these libs are no longer needed).
It's probably unrelated but I should mention that I had previous issues with my thinkpad not powering down related to a e1000e bug. Fixed by removing the e1000e module in rc.local.shutdown.
Any idea where to start looking for clues ?
-edit-
I forgot to mention that "POWER OFF" is printed on screen, then it seems to shut down for a couple seconds before it reboots, it's not an instant reboot.

Same thing on my old Pentium-M laptop. It must be something in the kernel, but I never bothered to investigate further.

I find this problem only when on battery power. See the following for more info.

I confirm that this only happens on battery.
I keep missing the relevant topics when I search the forums, what keywords did you search for to find this topic ?

I use Google Advanced Search as it works much better than the forum's search feature (this is typical of a number of forums). I just put the forum's URL as the site to search, and enter some search terms.

I stopped using google a while ago for privacy concerns, general bloat and severe decrease in quality of search results, I now use duckduckgo which does not offer the site: search feature (afaik duckduckgo does not index websites). I'll remember to fire up google next time I need to search the arch forums.
Marked as fixed. I followed the instructions and disabled laptop-mode runtime power management, in /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/runtime-pm.conf:
# Control Runtime Power Management ?
CONTROL_RUNTIME_PM=0
# Enable debug mode for this module
# Set to 1 if you want to debug this module
DEBUG=0

Sorry for OT:
I'll remember to fire up google next time I need to search the arch forums.
You may consider this => https://startpage.com/ <= a safe Google replacement. It works as expected.

Hi.
The issue is not solved for me. I blacklisted e1000e, upgraded kernel to 3.3.2, and do not run laptop-mode. I started new topic on gentoo forums:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7017390.html
How would you track down the issue?

rmmod ehci_achi also.
Also, there is no need to blacklist. Just remove the module in /etc/rc.local.shutdown.

Uh, what is ehci_achi?
[root@myhost ~]# find /lib/modules -iname '*ehci*'
/lib/modules/3.3.2-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/usb/host/ehci-hcd.ko.gz

Removing ehci-hcd on shutdown helped. Thank you, Hspasta, for suggestion.
