Hi every one.
                     I have use DeadBeef long time. It always can play all my ape file well. But it can't play those today. I try to install mac which is ape's decoder. But it still doesn't work. I don't know what I did.
                     I try to open it in terminal. It's output like this:

I try to remove it and reinstall. Even I build it from source code. But it still can't play ape file. So, what should I do next?

@madper,

Please surround your terminal commands and output with the bbs tags '[⁣code]' and '[/⁣code]'.  It makes the output easier to read and the automatic scroll box allows others to scroll rhrough the thread much more quickly.  Like this:

This is a code box

Thank you.

Re: [SLOVED]DeadBeef can't play pae file.

My DeaDBeef can't play any streams any more since last full upgrade, from .pls files or not. Downgrading to previous version (that did work) did not help: i'm not sure if it it is DeaDBeef-related or other. It can play files though, only streams are affected. My other players still work well.

@danielausparis
Try git-version (from git://deadbeef.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/deadbeef/deadbeef). See

Thanks for the idea, however previous version worked perfectly until my system upgrade...  ok, i'll give it a try this evening.

Re: [SLOVED]DeadBeef can't play pae file.

FYI, I tried out the statically linked version available on upstream website, with SUCCESS.

This demonstrates that upstream is'nt the culprit, rather some library since my last system upgrade.

Would be interesting to know which one...

It works now by using git version. Thank you very much!

Re: [SLOVED]DeadBeef can't play pae file.

Hello everyone, I download DeaDBeeF 1.8.7 ArchLinux package x86_64  deadbeef-static. Then I unpacked this .tar archive into the directory: ./opt/deadbeef. From this directory, I try to run the command:

sudo -U

but nothing happens. Please, help install deadbeef player. I'm just learning to do something on my own in Linux. I did everything according the instructions from here: Linux distribution packages. (sorry for my terrible English. i use translator)

Re: [SLOVED]DeadBeef can't play pae file.

This thread is 9 years old and deadbeef is available in the repositories which you should use unless you really need a newer functionality not yet present in the repos version.

If you still need help with this, open up your own thread but I do highly doubt you've actually installed Arch Linux based on the information presented in this post.

Closing this old thread.
