[SOLVED] Can't have a partition outside the disk

Hi

I am trying to back up my Arch Linux install with Clonezilla but I am getting the following error:

Can't have a partition outside the disk!

Arch Linux is the only OS I have on the drive and it boots fine. Here is the out out from fdisk:

[root@archlinux ~]# fdisk -l /dev/sda

Disk /dev/sda: 60.1 GB, 60060155904 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 7301 cylinders, total 117304992 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 63 39070079 19535008+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 39070080 40066109 498015 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda3 40066110 117306629 38620260 83 Linux

Also Gparted does not like the disk it gives me this error the same error as Clonezilla. It looks from the output of fdisk that the last partition ends out side the disk as total sectors is 117304992 and the end of sda3 is 117306629. Am I correct in thinking this? If so how do I go about fixing this? If not please can you point me in the right direction. If you need any more information then please let me know. Thanks for reading.

Thanks
Robert

Re: [SOLVED] Can't have a partition outside the disk

I would backup all files that are in sda3, remove the partition, create a new one that ends inside the disk, reformat and copy things back.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. That did the trick. Seems so simple when someone else points things out to you!

Thanks
