Any idea on how I can get some useful log messages? Tried the GDM log but there wasn't anything useful.
Log in and then switch to a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F1), and try running "DISPLAY=:0 gnome-shell" from there

Ah, thanks! Just got "libgcr-3.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". Any ideas?

FYI you can use the "pkgfile" package/command to search for packages which contain a certain file. libgcr-3.so.1 is provided by the 'gcr' package.
How did you manage to install new gnome-shell withoug the gcr dependency? Did you use pacman -f or -d flags? Don't do that, unless you have a very good reason.

Is gnome 3.4 fully built ? I looked at my mirror, and there is a lot of 3.3.92 versions available, like Cheese for example. Just asking of course.

Yeah, I used -f, quite stupid of my part. And I forgot to use pacman -Su, so a lot of packages were not installed correctly.
Anyway, it seems gnome-utils is still at 3.2 and is conflicting with a lot of other packages when installing gnome-extra. When I keep from installing it, everything is ok. Thanks and good job with the Gnome 3.4 packages.

I think you answered your own question. Not all the packages are version 3.4 yet, but soon ...

I hope so. I had crashes with nvidia driver, maybe related to gnome-shell 3.3.92. Well, the worst part for me is Evolution which is not able to sync with my google calendar account.

Sorry for your problems, but unstable is unstable, you should use gnome-unstable just for testing not for work.

I used every single gnome 3.x release starting two days before RC date. And this version is really the worse I've seen so far. For you info, evolution was busted to with google sync during gnome 3.2 rc time.

After adding the gnome-unstable repository, updating all packages and logging out and back in, all my windows are now using some really old Gnome 2-ish window decorations. Gnome 3 decorations still worked back in Gnome 3.2. Any ideas whose bug it is?

Bump. I have this old ugly theme on all systems after upgrading all 3 of my Arch Linux desktops. Does anyone else have this problem?

are you using fallback mode?
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

No -- Gnome Shell with all its eye candy works. New widget theme also works. Just the window decorations reverted to ugly for some reason.
(Note that the screenshot has no "minimize" and "maximize" buttons -- these would appear in fallback mode)

At least a good news today : looks like evolution sync bug is a gnutls one.

Yes
Only remaining the dhcpcd log spamming bug
Looks like to be a kernel bug :
Mar 29 11:15:44 localhost kernel: [10680.319022] INFO: task khubd:82 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
Mar 29 11:15:44 localhost kernel: [10680.319031] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

What do you have selected as 'Window theme' in GNOME Tweak Tool?

Thanks, I didn't know about that tool. Strangely enough, no window theme is selected (screenshot below). Choosing Adawita fixed it. Maybe it's some leftover from old Gnome 2 configuration? I guess I should wait until Gnome 3.4 proper is released on Arch and, if it's still a problem, report to upstream.

Fair enough Thanks,
On a separate note, anyone else having problems with empathy showing no contacts? Also windows live is lately a no-go service (always fails login).

Ok. Until then, switching back to gnome stable version will be safer. Get well.

just updated a fresh archlinux install with gnome 3.2 to gnome 3.4 from gnome-unstable. everything works fine, no bugs or crashes except one:
if you close epiphany by pressing "quit" in the new global menu and reopen it, it says "recover last pages" and dmesg contains:
epiphany[5211]: segfault at 140 ip 00007f669f035b3c sp 00007f66942e24b0 error 4 in libc-2.15.so[7f669efff000+197000]
and/or

if you close epiphany by pressing CTRL+W or in gnome shell activities overview it works fine.

Upgraded a few minutes ago. Got a single problem. gcr doesn't install cleanly, broking gnome-shell. Installing it again fixes this problem.
And always the dhcpcd crashing bug using networkmanager 0.9.40 with ipv6

Anyone know some good themes that are compatible with gtk 3.4 have a matching gtk2 theme and are not Radiance, Ambiance or Sonar.

Can anybody verify this bug : just try to do screen capture with alt+printscreen under gnome 3.4 with nvidia drivers... Image is upside down.
Gnome Screenshot 3.4.0, nvidia 295.33...
