Alright, I decided not to give up and voila:
It's a version that tries to be truer to the ideas in the post above. But still not exactly what I wanted... yet.

distrohopper does not appear to be around any longer, and his last Rorschach post is no longer accessible. However, all his earlier ones as well as a couple really cool nature scenes with "Arch shadows" are available from his school's file share: http://www.terpconnect.umd.edu/~silbaugh/archlinux/.
