The new version (6.14.4-2) solved the problem for me.

Thank you for the link to the bug report. It was correct, simply using the ABS to build and install the xf86-video-ati package myself fixes the problem.

See the bug report... It's closed. Usually that means it's fixed. Why would devs leave a broken package in the repos?
