[SOLVED] pacman in .deb or .rpm based systems

I was wondering if it was possible to use pacman to install deb or rpm files, so I could use pacman in other distros such as debian or fedora instead of their package manager

I dont think its possible. You can install Arch from an exisiting linux installation.

If you want to use pacman instead of debian or fedora, the path of least resistance is installing arch.

I was afraid of that. Arch is my favorite distro and I prefer it over any other distro. But a few guys I know aren't computer savvy enough to use Arch, or too lazy, or don't have the time, and Pacman is such a great package manager, I was hoping that it would work on the noob friendly distros such as Linux Mint.

You do realize the compatibility issues, dont you?

Hypothetically speaking of installing pacman in mint and expecting a noob to handle it is  not a great idea!

Edit:
Topic could be TGNed!

Is it your computer, or does it belong to someone else? If it's your computer, do what you want. If it's someone else's, they can do what they want. And who cares whether your friends use a different distro? I am happy just when I know I even have a handful of friends who use any kind of Unix. Most people seem so hopelessly wedded to Windows, it's nice just to have the odd person around who uses Ubuntu or a Mac. Count your blessings, man.

But you sure expect a noob to understand {apt-get,apt-cache,dpkg.*[a-zA-Z0-9]*}. That makes sense perfectly.

Re: [SOLVED] pacman in .deb or .rpm based systems

If (apt-get) is  so tough and with a support of GUI software center too in linux Mint , why use linux?

Creating packages are different, which a noob, mostly won't need.
