Problems with ALSA snd_pcm_dmix_open

Good morning!

I'm trying to build my own multimedia pc, and I chose Archlinux.

The idea is, to run xbmc-standalone. I picked slim as loginmanager, with autologon I boot directly into xbmc-standalone. I also installed fluxbox, if I 'll need a graphical interface later. Also, I installed ssh and most of the things I want to work, do work.

But I got a annoying problem, which I'm unable to fix:

- Sound in xbmc is only working for the "pings" & "click" if I scroll through the menu, always when I try to play an mp3 or video I get "Failed to initialize audio device, check your audiosettings"
I started xbmc from a terminal in fluxbox to look for error-mesages:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
^^  this is the only message I get.
I asked google, searched forums, but I can't find an answer
