I've installed the latest version + patch of W:ET from the AUR (running 64 bit archlinux). Out of the box the sound was not working. A solution here: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-40795.html worked. Specifcally:
$ sudo modprobe snd_seq_oss
$ sudo modprobe snd_mixer_oss
$ sudo modprobe snd_pcm_ossAnd then this:
# echo "et.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/ossHowever this seems to be only a 'half-solution' as after this the sound in W:ET works fine but I cannot produce audio simultaneously from any other application. I am required to close W:ET to use sound for anything else.
I also have et-sdl-sound installed from the AUR.
This is the relevant error from ET:
"------- sound initialization -------
/dev/dsp: No such file or directory
Could not open /dev/dsp
------------------------------------"
I have the following audio packages installed:
alsa-lib
alsa-oss
alsa-plugins
pulseaudio-alsa
lib32-alsa-lib
lib32-alsa-oss
lib32-alsa-plugins
libpulse
pulseaudio
pulseaudio-alsa
lib32-libpulse
Any suggestions? Apologies in advance for my lack of knowledge and experience in this area.
