grub-fx annoyance

Recently I wanted to install a splash screen for my grub menu. I followed the directions here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Grub-Legacy-gfx however after executing:
grub-install /dev/sda and rebooting during grub loading it just reboots straight way before reaching the menu. Any help in regards to simply restoring the system would be much appreciated.

Hi

Can you post the contents of:

/boot/grub/menu.lst

output of:

sudo parted --list

.

Use a LiveCD/USB drive (if necessary) to get your system to access to your system.

The basic steps are to:
1) See if your configuration is slightly wrong. big_smile
2) Chroot your install from a LiveCD/USB drive (if things have really gone South...) - to enable Grub to be reinstalled... yikes

Personally I use Burg (graphical boot loader for Grub2) and using UUID's to point at boot partitions (for 'peace of mind' on a multi-disk system). Seems to be reasonably reliable... Starts flame war... cool
