Sorry to dig up old topics, but I'm having the same problem, which I shouldn't need multilib to solve. I have two Arch machines I'm running, both 32-bit architecture; one is my laptop, which has KDE and PoL installed, the other is a media box which has XBMC, ratpoison WM, and PoL installed. PoL was able to setup and launch on my KDE laptop no problem, but gives me the 32-bit OpenGL library error on the XBMC box. As far as I understand, multilib doesn't belong in use on a 32-bit machine, so can anyone help me address this issue on my XBMC box?
Other potentially helpful info:
XBMC box is running an NVIDIA graphics chip with proprietary drivers installed
XBMC box is running AMD Athalon 64 processor
Non-problematic KDE laptop runs Intel chipsets

I forgot one HUGE caveat...
I have been running the PoL install from my XBMC box through SSH w/X11 forwarding on my KDE laptop. Which may perhaps be the very root of my evil.

I am a fool who answered his own question. Running PoL natively on the XBMC machine alleviated the error. Sorry everyone!
