Re: [flashplayer] how check HW acceleration

Right-click on the flash video and select 'Settings' from the menu. A small 'Adobe Flash Player Settings' window will appear. In one of the tabs ('Display' - first one from the left) the option to use HW accel should be checked.

Re: [flashplayer] how check HW acceleration

Actually, to really check what is accelerated (decoding, presentation, or both), you right-click on a youtube video and choose "View video info".

Ah yes, that was the option I was looking for, but I picked a video from some other site that only embedded the video from YT and it didn't have that option in the menu.
I should have checked at the source, thanks :-)

Re: [flashplayer] how check HW acceleration

for example, check if with HW accell. enabled cpu usage is less than the case with HW accell. disabled

Re: [flashplayer] how check HW acceleration

this is the problem: the cpu usage is the same !

Ah, now I get what's the problem.

What does 'View video info' show - is the hw acceleration working?

I've found http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ado … 805-4.html but it's Windows-oriented.

Re: [flashplayer] how check HW acceleration

A particluar player needs to explicitly support hardware decoding. The youtube player does, any other player may or may not.

Re: [flashplayer] how check HW acceleration

i've done some test (two 1080p videos from youtube) :
with HW accel. enabled i get:
- CPU is 0.00 0.07 0.06
- GPU temp grow of 2 degree
without HW accel. i get:
- CPU is 0.15 0.07 0.06
- GPU temp grow of 2 degree

are these results reliable ???

PS: with HW accel. disabled i get video with BGR instead RGB , so red become blue and blue become red ..... =0
