I'm looking for a <$50 webcam that will be well supported on Arch 64bit. Does anyone have any suggestions? Just something I can toss in my bag to use primarily for G+ hangouts. If it makes any difference, I have a thinkpad T400

I suppose most webcams sold these days can be supported by generic uvc drivers so it shouldn't be hard to find a supported webcam, quality wise it might be a whole different story.
I guess you may have already found [1] and [2], these should hint at some of the supported devices and features. Your other option may be to scavenge the webcam from some broken laptop/notebook if you know it works well with linux (I've done it but the webcam does not play well with almost anything since it outputs the image in a obscure format).

I have ran this one on several linux boxes it works right out of the box no configuration required, and I find the picture quality good.

I love computers, networking and Arch Linux. Sometimes I might ask a stupid question, but please have grace with me like I would with you.
