making thunar the default fileman in openbox

Hi, I"m using thunar with openbox.
how can I make it the default file manager?  (arch x86_64)

presently, whenever I do "open directory" etc in clients like qbitorrent, dropbox etc
firefox opens and shows the folder and its contents.

Xdg-open should be able to help you with that.
