[SOLVED] Fat partition mounted in readonly with udisk by default

Hello,

I have a fairly new Arch install and I am having trouble mounting some of my external partitions.
The problem occurs only with partions that are not on the same physical drive that the Arch install. All the fat partition are atuomatically mounted by KDE (i.e. udisks), but when I try to write something in the fat partitions (that are not on the same disk as Arch install), I just get a standard error message, something like "Unable to create the folder" (if I try to create a folder for example). So that means that these partitions are mounted in read only.
This doesn't happen with another fat partition which is on the same physical disk as the Arch install.

Any suggestion where to look for? I already checked the forum and the wiki.

Thank you very much!

EDIT: Problem to write not to mount! Change the title to refer to udisks and not KDE

Not really sure what you mean by "mounted by KDE" (haven't used KDE myself in ages), but I'm guessing the easiest solution would be to simply specify said partitions in your /etc/fstab with the correct read/write mount options assigned.

Re: [SOLVED] Fat partition mounted in readonly with udisk by default

Thank you for your reply. You are right it is not KDE which is mounting the partitions but Udisk. I just configured as automount in KDE.
So there is nothing really interesting in my /etc/fstab. I just want to have udisk mount the partition in the correct way.
Again thank you.

Re: [SOLVED] Fat partition mounted in readonly with udisk by default

The problem is not solved, I am looking into the udisks / udev configuration, but help would be more than welcome!
The problem is really simple: udisks mounts some of my FAT partition as readonly, I don't understand why and want to change it to read & write.

Thanks!

It may do that if it detects errors which FAT is common to, try fsck (unmounted)

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.

Re: [SOLVED] Fat partition mounted in readonly with udisk by default

Thank you, unfotunately I think that the problem comes from me.
I am dumb...
These partitions are in NTFS and not in FAT because their size is bigger than 1 Tera...
Sorry for this post, thank you everyone for helping me.
