[SOLVED] A TPM error (6) occurred attempting to read a pcr value

What does this mean?

"A TPM error (6) occurred attempting to read a pcr value"

I get this during boot, not seen this one before and cannot find much that I can make sense of.

I also encounter this error. My full error message is: "tpm_tis: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting to read a pcr value".
Information about TPM https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/TPM
If you not need TPM, just
echo blacklist tpm_tis > /etc/modprobe.d/tpm_tis.conf (need root)
It worked on my computer. The error gone.

I had this error on a ThinkPad and can confirm it disappeared after disabling the security chip (as opposed to making inactive) in the BIOS.

Hm, and what do I do if I do want to use TPM and still get rid of the error message? Anyone have an idea about that? smile

just activate the security chip in the bios, that should work, too. similar to what RikT wrote, on my thinkpad the error message was gone after i enabled the security chip in the bios, changing it from inactive to active. so it seems you can get rid of the error message by either activating or disabling the security chip.

@ HuYuesheng

I am facing the same problem. While google I found the below to fix the problem

echo blacklist tpm_tis > /etc/modprobe.d/tps_tis.conf

But the problem is even I am not able to go in to single user mode. Where/how can I run this command.

ERROR
TBOOT: transfering control to kernel @0x1000000...
