Power saving on S-ATA disables eS-ATA altogether

I had a weird experience on my server this week - all my eS-ATA drives would not be recognised. Udevadm monitor didn't see anything, nor did dmesg.

It turns out turning on power saving on the S-ATA ports is not a good idea - this is what I have in rc.local:

for i in 0 1 2 3 4 5 ; do echo min_power > /sys/class/scsi_host/host$i/link_power_management_policy ; done

The sixth port (ie number 5) being the eS-ATA port, it started working again when I set all ports except that one to min_power.

Has anybody had a similar experience? I don't think it's the intention is to make your ports unusable... Unless min_power also means no hotswapping?
