Wireless Stopped Working - Possibly not linux 3.3.1 related

Hi Arch people,

Yesterday my wireless on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5750-9668) stopped working. It has an Atheros chipset, so I was assuming it was related to the ath9k regression in linux 3.3.1. Therefore I installed the LTS kernel, added it to my menu.lst and booted from it, but it did not fix the problem. I am running GNOME 3 and NetworkManager. I can see the wireless networks, but cannot connect to them, I just get asked for the passphrase repeatedly.

I am currently running Windows (:-() and don't have a wired connection so If there are commands I should run that will have useful output I will have to reboot into Arch.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have.

Today I was able to login to an unsecured network, but I cannot log in to any secured networks. Any ideas what I should do? Changing kernel versions does not work.

Probably openssl bug.

Use openssl 1.0.0h

Ok, I tried downgrading openssl. Now I can't log in to GNOME, I just get booted out to the GDM screen again. I don't know what's going on.

Did you try downgrading the Linux package instead of using the LTS kernel? Restarting the computer? Restarting the router (because I got really frustrated a day ago when it wasn't authenticating, and it was the router)?

Re: Wireless Stopped Working - Possibly not linux 3.3.1 related

so what is this?  is arch suddenly anti-wifi on acer machines??  tongue  i'm running an aspire 7551g w/ `Atheros Communications Inc. AR9287 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)` wireless and i can't connect to any secured wireless network either (havnt tried insecure yet...)  i tried downgrading to the previous consolekit and openssl, but neither seemed to work.  i'm running xmonad w/ wicd for wireless configs.  anyone have any spiffy ideas??

p.s.  i've tried connecting to a few ap's - so i know it's not a router thing, cause everyone and my fone was connected (and still is)... :-/

The ath9k driver is broken in 3.3.1 - either wait for 3.3.2 (a few days) or downgrade.  Search the forum -- there are MANY threads with workarounds
