I've been using GDM+GNOME3 for a long time now but i decided to try SLiM with Xfce4. So I installed both and tried them out. Now I removed SLiM and Xfce4 (with pacman -Rs xfce4 slim) and I tried to revert my settings to GDM (which is started via /etc/inittab). The problem now is that I can't shutdown or reboot on GDM before loggin in or in GNOME after loggin in. If I'm in GNOME and I click "Power Off" it just logs me out.
I believe the source of this problem is located somewhere in /etc/pam.d/. Is that possible?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Edit: Also Nautilus can't mount any device and the sound stopped working.

The same here, not shutdown/restart, not mounting any device.
I am using Xfce4/GDM

Maybe it's a ConsoleKit related issue. I'm not sure if this is saying anything but $ ck-list-sessions says
** (ck-list-sessions:1547): WARNING **: Failed to get list of seats: Process /usr/lib/dbus-1.0/dbus-daemon-launch-helper received signal 5Also, consolekit was updated recently. Hm...

downgrading udev and consolekit should fix it for now.

Thanks that fixed it. I downgraded consolekit to 0.4.5-2 and udev to 181-9 and everything is fine again
. Much appreciated.
