[SOLVED]Wifi Atheros (ath5k) authorization failure with networkmanager

Hi All,

I am getting an authentication request for an open network using network manager (I have just done a recent install)
Is there some configuration I am missing?

To try and debug, I notice the following in dmesg:

 [    7.682646] ath: EEPROM regdomain: 0x809c
[    7.682650] ath: EEPROM indicates we should expect a country code
[    7.682653] ath: doing EEPROM country->regdmn map search
[    7.682656] ath: country maps to regdmn code: 0x52
[    7.682658] ath: Country alpha2 being used: CN
[    7.682661] ath: Regpair used: 0x52
[    7.783422] ieee80211 phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'minstrel_ht'
[    7.784170] ath5k phy0: Atheros AR2414 chip found (MAC: 0x79, PHY: 0x45)

I am not sure about the country code stuff, I did what the wiki said and created a /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf: with the country code for New Zealand.
.. but the above looks like it has been set to Canada ..??

CN is China, canada is CA.
But networkmanager likely only asks for sudo authorisation to add/save the wifi connection.. try that pw

That was the 1st thing I tried ... however I did put the normal user password in and that worked ... go figure!
Why would it want the already logged on user password .... seems strange ... I hope it's not going to ask for it each logon ..

It is not strange, if your logged on user has the appropriate admin rights. Yet anyway, sounds like your original problem is solved to me.
