@presentgear - using the broadcom-wl-ck drivers or kernel included drivers?

K.. Likely not the fault of the packages or of the repo.  Likely due to upstream.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

linux-ck since the upgrade to the 3.3.x my internet is 20 mins and automatically disconnected
the only form is rerun the networkmanager daemon
the only package updated is the entire ck-corex (linux, header, broadcom)
downgrading to the 3.2 solve the problem and using the official 3.2 or the lts solve too the problem

card via_rhine, modem zte and using networkmanager

Well, I suppose that this is somekind of signature, no?

Yeah, should have checked before - 3.3 from [testing] has the same problem.

I'm also not able to update. Says nvidia-ck-corex requires the old kernel.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Sorry about this bullshit, guys. It's fixed now.

What went wrong?  Nvidia-ck-295.33-1 required linux-ck>=3.2.  When I updated nvidia-ck to work with 3.3 I neglected to bump the pkgver from 1 to 2.  It's all in the aur.git for nvidia-ck.

I just wanted to say I saw the prettier side of things and that I'm thouroughly impressed with how up to date this repo-ck server is.

Being on the newest kernel fixed a long time kernel bug I've had regarding enabling msi-x on startup.  Totally cool man.

I am a fan.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hello!

First I wanted to say that I'm a big linux-ck fan, thanks for your support and maintenance! One question: What is the difference between the nvidia-ck and the nvidia-ck-corex package? Which specific changes are made? Because I compiled linux-ck for corex-avx and want to know how to do this for the nvidia-ck package.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@toddy - the reason there are matched packages is that the nvidia-ck-xxx requires the linux-ck-headers-xxx to successfully build.  Why?  The linux-ck-xxx and corresponding linux-ck-headers-xxx packages are optimized for and contains specific changes unique to the xxx CPU.

If you are building your own linux-ck package from the AUR, do NOT use the repo.  Instead, build the AUR package for nvidia-ck since it will require YOUR headers package to build it for YOUR customized kernel.

I just wanted to say great job, I have been switching my computers to these, and have seen some improvements with the response times of the computers. I think we can all say we appreciate what you do, thanks Graysky.

I love computers, networking and Arch Linux. Sometimes I might ask a stupid question, but please have grace with me like I would with you.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hi, I have problems with signature of Packages from repo-ck

error: linux-ck: signature from "graysky <graysky@archlinux.us>" is unknown trust
error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))

pacman-key -l

...
...
pub 2048R/6176ED4B 2011-11-07
uid graysky <graysky@archlinux.us>
sub 2048R/9B453E32 2011-11-07

pacman.conf

[repo-ck]
SigLevel = Required DatabaseOptional TrustedOnly
Server = http://repo-ck.com/x86_64

I tried to delete the key with "pacman-key -d" and redownload it with "pacman-key -r 6176ED4B", but same Problem.
The Only Way to get Packages installed from repo-ck I found ist to set Siglevel to Never for [repo-ck].

EDIT://
Is the Key not signed against the Arch Masterkeys and I have to trust it manually?

Yep.  I am not an official Arch developer, so I don't know how to get my key signed by one of the masters.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hi people, I have to say that I use ck-kernels since ages without any problem. The repo of graysky is awsome and I'm using it with corex kernels.
I noticed a thing that astonished me. Me and an archer friend are MOBA fans and we are practicing with DOTA2 beta running through wine.
While my friend had no problems with it , I experienced lags and freeze of various type making the game unplayable.
Guess what..I rebooted the vanilla kernel and the problems were gone and the game is running smooth and pleasent.
This makes me think about other problems I had lately , playing HD video (stuttering) and playing other games (heroes of newerth , micro freeze) and I suspect
that the ck-kernel is the culprit
Now I'm running vanilla to test more carefully , but I'm really shocked to see  vanilla performing way better then ck in my gaming sessions , at least in my case.
Prolly I should  ask Con about this..
anyone has something to share about this?

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hi folks,

first of all - thank you Graysky for all the work you have put in this. I just recently stumbled over your repo and currently evaluate the corex packages. They seem to run smooth as far as I can tell by now.

I have two questions:
1. On my laptop I recently tested powertop to optimize my runtime when on battery. One of the hints powertop gives suggests to enable CONFIG_INOTIFY when building the kernel. AFAIK the vanilla Arch kernel does not enable this. Is there a chance to enable this in your builds?
2. I have a headless server here at home based on a fanless atom board. Can a headless system without X take advantage of your optimzed kernels? Or are they meant for desktop use only?

Thank you for clarification
Harvey

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@magnus - better to report to con since this thread is just about repo issues, not potential upstream stuff.

@harvey -
1) I believe that that option is enabled.  Try zgrep INOTIFY /proc/config.gz
2) Of course.  BFS and CPU specific optimizations help everything, not just stuff under X.

You are right. I was confused because powertop spoke of CONFIG_INOTIFY but it seems this has been renamed to CONFIG_INOTIFY_USER which is enabled in vanilla kernels.

Ah, I see. So I will try this and see what it gives.
EDIT: Tested it and was impressed about the effect. My headless atom server is much more responsive. Feels like warp 5 wink
Thank you
Harvey

I am not able to search, so, I am just going to ask.

Is nvidia-ck-corex compatible with Bumblebee?

Thanks.
