energy consuming with kernel 3.3

hi !

I would like to ask if it is true or not that new kernel 3.3 allow to consume less energy in laptops..

I just ask because I have updated my arch version with new kernel (with pacman) and I am not seeing any differences before

It is not generally, only for some hardware.
Search for "linux ASPM" for more information.

The patches are also not only part of kernels > 3.3
they were also backported to older kernels (3.2.5 for example).
