No Audio Preview In Nautilus On Mouse Over

Hi All,

Audio preview in Nautilus is not working on mouse over.

I have installed: mpg123 and gstreamer ugly plugins but still not working...

Maybe you need another GStreamer plugin. Try to install the group by typing 'pacman -S gstreamer0.10-plugins' without the quotes.

Another thing is that I cannot turn on "Preview sound files" in Nautilus preferences, this option does not appear in:

Nautilus -> Edit -> Preferences -> Preview

that is, no  "Preview sound files" menu available.

I forgot to tell you that I am using Gnome 3 (Nautilus 3.2.0) and sushi as previewer so researching by Google I have recently read that you cannot preview sound files by hovering them in Nautilus 3.2 like in older Nautilus versions. Instead it is necessary to select the file in Nautilus and then press the SPACE bar in order to use it. I have done this and the file preview begins to work but without sound and I think this is because I am using oss instead of alsa so some regarding to oss (plugins, etc.) are missed but I don't know what. Do I have to install some plug-ins or specific libraries to work sushi with oss?

Any luck on this issue? I can't get it to work either. I installed all gstreamer plugins, all the recommended packages, and mpg123... no love so far.

No luck, but I did get similar functionality using gloobus-preview-bzr (from AUR). The most obvious down-side is that you must press the space bar to activate the preview, as it doesn't do the mouse-over previews. This is bitter sweet though, as I remember often being annoyed when I'd accidentally bump the mouse while listening to an audio file. The preview interface seems nice, it's worth installing if you can live without the mouse-over functionality.

Thunar-extended 1.3.0 from AUR has auto audio preview. It's a very nice featrue and impresses guests (window folks). I think it was nautilus one and only essential feature to have audio preview and now it's gone. (Not a gnome fan)

It got somewhat superceded by sushi (package is in extra). Highlight the file and hit the space bar. Also works for various other file types, videos, photos, pdfs, plain text and code. It also gives some information about files that aren't supported (size, modified date).
