Desura successfully downloading games, but not running them

I installed Desura from the AUR and the application itself runs fine, but when I try to start an installed game it runs the auto update and either finishes the update and auto updater disappears and nothing happens or the auto updater gets frozen and won't go away unless I log out.

The game I am trying to play is Battle for Newerth. If you have not had any problems, but are able to play this game, I would still be interested in comparing to see what I am missing. Thank you!

As far as I know, if you install Desura from AUR, you need root access to use it. If you install Desura "the normal way" with the installer from the Desura site, you don't need root access.

So I need to start Desura from the command line with sudo Desura?

With the AUR package one, yes. With a normal Desura installation, no.

I got the following error trying to run as root:

Desura is not designed to run as root. Suggestino is to restart under a normal user with read/write permissions in the root folder.

Desura opened up anyways, but my problem continued.

It should probably have a folder in /home/user/, or XDG_CONFIG_HOME$ preferably-
somehow, for saving settings/game files or what not
- that is what i feel and guess anyways.
