ThinkVantage button and Gnome 3

Has anyone been able to use the ThinkVantage to do anything in Gnome 3? If so, how did you do it? I have been messing around with the system settings GUI and gconf and it doesn't seem to pick up the button when it is pressed. Then again, this may be indicative of a bigger problem as I cannot set any shortcuts from the system settings GUI.

I'm sure that you could do it through acpi events. Seems to have worked with all the buttons on my thinkpad.

Did you do anything with the thinkvantage button? (Just curious)

Also, when I tried to install acpid I got the following error:

you need to update, the current version in 2.0.16

On my thinkpad it is mapped to XF86_LaunchProgram, I am not super familiar with keybinds in Gnome 3 but there is surely a way that you can write a keybind for it. If it is not mapped to that then use xev to find out what it is mapped to.

Thanks! Just updated and installed it.

I installed it and got another error: acpi_listen: can't open socket /var/run/acpid.socket: No such file or directory

However, using xev I was able to figure out information about the button. If I read the wiki correct, I just edit the handler.sh file, correct? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ac … figuration
