How can I edit keyboard settings after installation .......... I am able to edit files like changing runlevels by default in grub .....

You can edit the keymap in /etc/rc.conf or if you have a grafical environment installed already there should be a program where you can change it too.

Also, remember to configure the keyboard in X too.
Laptop: AMD A4-3305M, 4GB RAM, Archlinux 64bit with XFCE4 and Linux Mint Maya with MATE.

thanks for reply .............. I hv checked rc.conf ..............and under the HARDWARE heading there is only 4 things which are

USELVM="no"
dont see any option for keyboard ...... ??????

Did you skip parts during the installation? It should have asked you for the keymap.
Did you follow the Beginners Guide from the wiki?

yes there is a localization part ...... having keymap ="us"
but CONSOLEMAP , CONSOLEFONT ,LOCALE are empty ........
