Wifi in Samsung QX310 has stopped working after an upgrade.

Hello, I have an QX310 laptop with Broadcom 4313 wireless card. Everything worked smoothly until a recent upgrade. Now I can scan networks but when I try to connect the authentication times out. I'm using brcmsmac module to handle the card, which is listen in MODULES in my rc.conf. The card works under Windows 7 on the same machine.

are you using wicd by any chance? I experienced the same problems recently due to an apparent bug with wicd. I switched to netcfg and can connect to the internet via wifi without an issue.

Hi, the problem is solved, frankly speaking I don't know how. I changed encryption algorithm on my wireless router from AES to AUTO and my wifi on laptop started working again. The interesting part is that it is still working when I switched back to AES.

Thanks for your interest. Anyhow, when it was not working it showed network list in wicd, so I guess iwlist scan would work to. Apart from wicd, I tried to connect through netcfg and then through plain wpa_supplicant. Each time it failed to authenticated with my network as though it didn't receive any data from the router (though I put my laptop in the same room). As I wrote Win7 on the same laptop and my android phone connected without any problems.
